?

Like any other place in Europe, while the months of May to September are the best to visit Italy, these are also the busiest. November through April are quieter but colder.

Places to Visit

Experiences

'DRAMA'TIC NAPLES

The most lively of Italian cities, Naples is in itself a heady mix of history, classical art, frenzied markets and culinary adventures. By ‘drama’tic, we mean: experience Naples nice and slow, and allow yourself to immerse in the hustle and bustle of everything Naples. Ogle at street art, taste sweet ricotta pastries, admire the view of the distant mountains from the Lungomare seafront, and explore subterranean catacombs. If you still have time left, join the locals at passegiatta on Via Chiaia.

EAT SLOW AT PIEDMONT

This is the birthplace of the ‘slow food movement’. Savour the most grassroots gastronomic experience of Italy – rare white truffles from Alba. Indulge in sweet, creamy hazelnuts from the Langhe hills and silky chocolate at cafes in Turin. Gulp Barolo and Barbaresco wines made of Nebbiolo grapes. And you have just started.

HARVEST GRAPES AT CINQUE TERRE

Apart from the stunning sherbet-coloured villages in the backdrop of terraced vineyards, autumn rings in a fascinating scene of grape harvest. The sight that will stay with you forever will be that of local pickers harvesting grapes that go into Cinque Terre’s fortified Sciacchetra; so also their sipping vintage wines. While here, a photography tour will be an added highlight.

FARM LUNCH AT THE HEART OF TUSCANY

A visit to the heart of Tuscany includes Siena and San Gimignano on the itinerary. An authentic tour of Siena must leave sufficient time for leisurely paced walks along its cobbled streets and Duomo’s Gothic carved marble facade and pavements. A farmhouse lunch by the countryside paired with local wines will make for a ‘Netflix documentary’-like experience. Once at the village of San Gimignano, climb the 218 steps to reach the Torre Grossa for stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

HIKE THE MONT BLANC AND OTHER PEAKS

Come winter and the Aosta Valley gets a fresh coat of snow which makes skiing and cable car rides crossing glaciers unforgettable. During summers, these transform into exciting hiking trails around Mont Blanc and Parco Nazionale de Gran Paradiso. While at it, have your ear trained to listen to local language and dialects of the Franco-Italian valleys.
